Suns Battle North Shore for a 3-2 Victory

PITTSFIELD, MA (June 12, 2015) - The Pittsfield Suns battled the North Shore Navigators this afternoon at Wahconah Park in a back and forth contest in which the Suns prevailed 3-2.
The scoring started in the first inning in which both teams plated runs. Richie Fectueau homered with two outs to give North Shore an early lead, but that lead did not last long. In the bottom of the frame back-to-back singles from Josh Hassell and Derek Gardella proved troublesome to Navigator's pitcher James Lauria. With two runners on he pegged Pittsfield's Ryan Olmo to load the bases. Dan Palazzo then hit into a double play, which allowed the runner on third to score the Suns' first run and even the game 1-1.
Matt Morales manufactured a run for Pittsfield in the second inning after singling and stealing second with Hassell at the plate. Hassell responded by smacking a single to score the speedy Morales from second to put the Suns up 2-1.
The Suns would add one more in the fifth. After a walk to Gardella and a wild pitch from Lauria, Ryan Olmo doubled to increase the Pittsfield lead 3-2.
That extra insurance run proved imperative when North Shore attempted a come back in the seventh, but fell one run short, giving the Suns a 3-2 victory.
The Suns are back at Wahconah Park this Wednesday, June 17th at 7PM when they face the Martha's Vineyard Sharks. Fans will want to come out as the Suns will run their "Put OUR Money Where Your MOUTH Is" promotion in which money will be included in some hot dog wrappers.
