Titans Announce Captains for 2020-21 Season

New Jersey Titans News Release


The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce the team's Captain and Alternate Captains for the 2020-21 season. Jake Suede has been named captain while Matt Doyle, Matt Iasenza and Brad Zona have been named alternate captains.

"This is an impressive leadership group as a whole" stated head coach and general manager Craig Doremus. "Each guy brings different elements to the group. Leadership is so important to the success of a team. We have been patient in terms of making sure we let the process play out and have the right people take ownership of our dressing room and team. I am so proud of all of these young men and am happy to have them represent our organization" concluded Doremus.

Suede joined the team in early November. The Macomb, MI native has seven points (2 goals and 5 assists) in eleven games.

"I would say it's definitely an honor and a privilege and to have that respect from your teammates and coaches is really a good feeling and can't thank them enough" said Suede. "We truly believe we have such a special group here and can do something amazing this year with all the talent in our room and just because a couple of us got letters, our whole group is filled with leaders and great teammates that make it easy to come in everyday and give your all for each other. I'm super excited and can't wait for the second part of the season here" conclude Suede.

Doyle, a veteran NAHL player, is in his first season with the Titans. The Niagara Falls, NY native has six points (2 goals and 4 assists) in 17 games.

"I'm very honored to have been named assistant captain" stated Doyle. "I will do whatever I can to help lead this team. We have a special group, and I am very excited to see what we do down the stretch" said Doyle.

Iasenza, a Pierrefonds, QC native, is in his second year with the Titans. He has accumulated 31 points (15 goals and 16 assists) in 60 NAHL games.

"It is a huge honor to be named assistant captain" said Iasenza. "I'm very excited to help lead this team and keep the tradition of what it means to be a New Jersey Titan" stated Iasenza.

Zona, who is committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Army next season, is in his second season with the Titans. The Auburn, MA native has twenty points (2 goals and 18 assists) in 70 games.

"It is an honor to be chosen as a leader for this team" stated Zona. "I look forward to something special with this group" concluded Zona.
