Portland Timbers 2 News Release

FULLERTON, Calif. - Timbers2 created a handful of chances, but ultimately couldn't break through in a 2-0 defeat to LAFC2 on Sunday at Titan Stadium. The hosts scored a goal from the penalty spot and another from outside the box to take all three points from a T2 team looking to climb up the table in the Western Conference.

Matchcenter: stats, notes and highlights from LA

First-Team FacesFirst-team forward Nathan Fogaça and goalkeeper Trey Muse returned to the starting lineup Sunday afternoon. Fogaça netted a brace in his last game with T2, a 2-0 win over Colorado Rapids 2 on April 14, but couldn't repeat the feat in Southern California.

Muse, meanwhile, missed T2's 4-3 loss to MNUFC2 on April 21 as he was in Columbus, Ohio, with the first team where he made the gameday roster in the Timbers 2-2 draw against the Crew on April 20.

Road ResultsSunday marked T2's first defeat on the road this season. Each of its previous three matches away from the Pacific Northwest (0-0 v. Real Monarchs; 2-2 v. Whitecaps FC 2; 1-1 v. St. Louis CITY2) ended in penalty kicks.

T2 has a chance to pick up its first road win in just under three weeks when it takes on North Texas SC at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific) on May 18 in Frisco, Texas.

Goal-Scoring Plays

LAFC2 - Tómas Ángel (penalty kick), 40th minute: Portland fouled LAFC2 midfielder Ratoviz inside the box. Ángel stepped to the spot and placed his penalty into the bottom-left corner just under the outstretched right hand of Muse.

LAFC2 - Adrian Wibowo (Nathan Ordaz), 79th minute: Ordaz received the ball just outside the right corner of the box and took on multiple defenders before slotting a horizontal pass to the substitute Wibowo. The forward took a touch to settle the ball before unleashing a powerful shot from outside the box into the bottom left.

Next Game

Timbers2 now returns to Portland where it will kick off a two-game homestand, which begins with a mid-afternoon matchup against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at 2 p.m. Friday at Providence Park. The two teams last fought to a 2-2 draw on March 30 at BC Place, with Timbers2 winning the penalty shootout 3-2 to take two points. Friday's match will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
