PORTLAND, Ore. - After securing their first road win in MLS team history, the Portland Timbers return to JELD-WEN Field for an international exhibition against English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion, presented by Verizon Wireless, Wednesday at 8 p.m. (PT) before hitting the road again to face the Columbus Crew Saturday at 5 p.m. (PT).

Wednesday's exhibition, the Timbers' third this season, will be broadcast live on 750 AM The Game and in Spanish on La Pantera 940 AM. Fans can also stream a live video webcast of the game at www.portlandtimbers.com.

Wednesday's match marks the third and final stop on West Brom's preseason tour of the United States. West Brom previously fell to the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 on July 12 and defeated the Ventura County Fusion 4-2 on Sunday.

Saturday's match, which is the second and final regular-season matchup of 2011 between Portland and Columbus, will be televised live on KPTV FOX 12 and in Spanish on estrellaTV, with live local radio broadcasts on 750 AM The Game and in Spanish on La Pantera 940 AM.

The Timbers (6-9-3, 21pts) defeated the Crew 1-0 at JELD-WEN Field in their first-ever meeting May 21. Former Crew defender Eric Brunner scored on a header just after halftime to provide the lone goal.

The Crew (7-5-7, 28pts) open a two-game week Wednesday as they visit the first-place LA Galaxy before returning home to face Portland. The Crew are coming off a two-game shutout streak following Saturday's 0-0 draw at home against the Earthquakes.

Portland returns home from Columbus to play host to Argentine side Club Atlético Independiente in its final international exhibition match this season, Tuesday, July 26, at JELD-WEN Field at 8 p.m. (PT).

Timbers face West Brom in international friendly Wednesday, presented by Verizon Wireless

As part of the club's series of international exhibitions in July, the Timbers welcome English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion to JELD-WEN Field this Wednesday at 8 p.m., presented by Verizon Wireless.

One of the more historic clubs in England, West Bromwich Albion visits the Rose City as part of their preseason tour of the West Coast as they prepare for the upcoming 2011-12 Premier League season.

Nicknamed "The Baggies," West Bromwich Albion is led by acclaimed head coach Roy Hodgson, who took over at the helm toward the end of last season. Forward Peter Odemwingie was one of the top strikers in the Premier League last season with a team-best 15 goals. West Brom's travel roster also includes midfielder Steven Reid, who starred for Ireland in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, captain and 2009-10 co-leading scorer Chris Brunt, midfield stalwart Youssouf Mulumbu and Swedish international and defender Jonas Olsson.

Watch the Timbers take on the Crew this weekend at ON DECK Sports Bar and Grill

Fans are invited to join the Timbers' official viewing party Saturday to watch the club take on the Columbus Crew at ON DECK Sports Bar and Grill at 5 p.m. (PT). Saturday's viewing party is for fans 21 and older.

ON DECK Sports Bar and Grill, located at 910 NW 14th Ave. in Portland, is one of several local pubs and restaurants featured with the club's pub partner program in 2011. Fans will be able enjoy the match, enter to win tickets to an upcoming game at JELD-WEN Field or autographed items and visit with mascot Timber Joey.

Jack Jewsbury named to 2011 MLS All-Star gameday roster

Major League Soccer (MLS) announced Monday that Portland Timbers midfielder Jack Jewsbury has been named to the 2011 AT&T MLS All-Star gameday roster by New York Red Bulls and MLS All-Star manager Hans Backe.

Jewsbury, 30, is among the 22 MLS All-Stars confirmed on the roster that will compete against English Premier League titleholders Manchester United at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, July 27. The game will be televised live by ESPN2, Galavision and TSN at 5:30 p.m. (PT).

The Joplin, Mo., native was selected for the first time in his career through the MLS All-Star First XI fan vote, the results of which were announced July 10.

In his first year with Portland, the captain leads the club with five goals, six assists and 16 points. Jewsbury also has three game-winning assists, tied for second in the league. The five goals and 16 points are career highs for the nine-year veteran. His penalty kick goal was the deciding factor in the Timbers' first road victory of the season at Chicago over the weekend.

Timbers face Argentina's Independiente at JELD-WEN Field July 26

The Timbers play their fourth and final international exhibition match on Tuesday, July 26, when they welcome successful Argentina side Club Atlético Independiente to JELD-WEN Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.

The winner of 14 first division championships, Independiente is one of the most successful clubs in Argentine soccer history and ranks third behind notable clubs Boca Juniors and River Plate in the number of total domestic titles won. Additionally, the club has garnered 16 international titles in its history, earning the nickname "Rey de Copas" or "King of Cups."

Independiente recently won the 2010 Copa Sudamericana, one of the top club tournaments in South America, claiming its 16th international championship. Its total number of international titles rivals the accomplishments of some of the top clubs in the world, including Italy's AC Milan, Boca Juniors and Spain's Real Madrid. Among its international honors, Independiente is also the owner of a record, seven Copa Libertadores titles as well as three Copa Interamericana titles, two Intercontinental Cups and two Supercopa Sudamericana titles.

Independiente was founded in 1905 and is one of the oldest clubs in Argentina. The club has yet to be relegated from the first division in its 80-year professional era. Independiente is one of just two Argentine clubs to boast this distinction; the other is Boca Juniors.

Top pick in 2012 Timbers Fan Draft to receive free pair of 2012 season tickets

On Saturday, July 23, the Timbers are holding video auditions at JELD-WEN Field for fans on the club's season ticket waiting list. The fan who demonstrates the most love for Portland, the game of soccer and the Timbers, as determined by a fan vote on Facebook, will win a pair of 2012 Timbers season tickets.

Portland's Jill Dayton nominated for MLS W.O.R.K.S./The Home Depot Community MVP

Portland native Jill Dayton, the Portland-area winner of the MLS W.O.R.K.S./The Home Depot Community MVP contest, is in the running for the league-wide Community MVP contest. Up for grabs is a $10,000 donation given to the winner's charity of choice.

Along with the other nominees from each of the MLS clubs, Jill will represent Portland at the 2011 AT&T MLS All-Star Game on July 27 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., where the MLS W.O.R.K.S./The Home Depot Community MVP will be announced. Jill has selected Guide Dogs for the Blind has her charity.

Timbers, adidas present $40,000 donation for new Chapman School field

At a groundbreaking ceremony at Chapman School in Northwest Portland last week, representatives from the Portland Timbers, adidas and the city of Portland presented youth players from Hillside Soccer Club a check for $40,000 to help build a new AstroTurf field.

Timbers President Merritt Paulson, Timbers Chief Operating Officer Mike Golub, adidas America President Patrik Nilsson, adidas America Director of Soccer Antonio Zea, adidas MLS Manager Ernesto Bruce and City of Portland Policy Director Jim Blackwood were all on hand to take part in the ceremony.

With the $20,000 contribution, the Timbers have now donated $50,000 toward building new soccer fields in the Portland area in 2011.

The field will be utilized by Chapman School students for recess and physical education classes, Hillside Soccer Club's home field, Lincoln Little League Baseball and the Audubon Society of Portland's swift watchers, which observe the annual migration of swifts each September.
