PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers square off against Minnesota United FC on Sunday, Aug. 4, at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minn. Beginning at 1 p.m. (Pacific), the match features a national television broadcast on ESPN with local radio broadcasts on 1029 and 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).

Recent form

Portland (9-8-4, 31pts) is unbeaten in its last seven games in all competitions (5-0-2), outscoring its opponents, 12-4, while registering four shutouts. The Timbers recorded a 4-0 win against the LA Galaxy in their last match on July 27, receiving a brace from Cristhian Paredes, a goal and an assist from Diego Valeri, Jeremy Ebobisse's seventh goal of the season and two assists from Jorge Villafaña. In their win over the Galaxy, five different players recorded assists for the Timbers, including Sebastián Blanco, who tallied his ninth assist of the 2019 season.

Road tested

The Timbers have won eight of their last 12 road games across all competitions, including consecutive road wins in league play against Seattle Sounders FC (July 21) and New York City FC (July 7). Portland's 2-1 win on the road against Seattle marked the team's sixth road win in MLS play. The team's six road wins is tied for the most road wins in the league this season. Notably, since the beginning of the 2014 season, the Timbers have won 32 road matches in MLS competition (regular season and playoffs), which is tied for the most in MLS during that span.

Against Minnesota

Sunday's match marks the fifth meeting all-time between Portland and Minnesota in MLS play. The two teams have split the four previous matches, with each team winning their respective home matches in 2017 and 2018. The Timbers have scored 12 goals in the four previous matches against Minnesota. Entering Sunday's match, Minnesota is unbeaten in its last six league games (4-0-2) and has a record of 6-1-4 at home in 2019.

Next match

Facing a quick turnaround, the Timbers take on Minnesota United FC for the second time in a four-day span in the semifinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minn. Beginning at 5 p.m. (Pacific), the match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
