New England Revolution Loan Justin Rennicks to North Carolina FC

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution have loaned forward Justin Rennicks to North Carolina FC of the USL Championship. The Homegrown Player's loan to North Carolina goes into effect today, August 1, and will run through the end of the season with the club retaining the right to recall him at any time.

Rennicks, 20, is currently in his first MLS season after signing a Homegrown Player contract with the Revolution on Jan. 18, 2019. After two seasons at the University of Indiana, he became the sixth Revolution Academy product to join New England's first team, and has made three overall appearances in his debut campaign. The Massachusetts native registered his first professional goal in the club's U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 match against Orlando City SC on June 19. On Tuesday, July 30, Rennicks played 45 minutes in the MLS Homegrown Game as part of MLS All-Star Week.

On the youth international stage, Rennicks has represented the United States at the U-20, U-18, and U-16 levels, totaling more than 15 caps across all levels and seven goals with the U-20s. Most recently, the two-time UHC Revolution Academy Player of the Year represented the United States at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, where he appeared in four of the team's five matches and scored the game-winning goal vs. France in the Round of 16.

At North Carolina FC, Rennicks will play under Head Coach Dave Sarachan, who took charge of the USL Championship side in 2018. Sarachan served as an assistant under Revolution Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena with numerous clubs over three decades. From 1984-87, Sarachan served as an assistant coach under Arena at the University of Virginia, before returning to Arena's staff with D.C. United from 1997-98. Sarachan then served as an assistant under Arena with the United States Men's National Team from 1999-2002, before becoming an assistant with Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy from 2008-16.

The Revolution will return to action this Saturday, Aug. 3, when the club looks to extend its unbeaten run to a club-record 12 games against the league leaders, Los Angeles FC. The match at Gillette Stadium will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio.
