
Timbers players to visit Doernbecher Children's Hospital Tuesday

WHAT: Portland Timbers midfielder Tony McManus, forward George Josten and defender Stephen Keel, along with Timber Joey will visit with children and families at Doernbecher Children's Hospital and present a portion of the 11,000 stuffed animals collected from the team's Teddy Bear Toss over the weekend to patients at the hospital.
WHEN: Tuesday, June 23 from 2-4 p.m.
WHERE: Doernbecher Children's Hospital 3181 Sam Jackson Park Rd.; Portland, OR, 97239
DETAILS: Started in 2006, the Timbers Teddy Bear Toss program has generated numerous stuffed animals for young hospital patients in the greater-Portland area. With the annual Teddy Bear Toss, fans donate small stuffed animals by throwing them onto the field after the Timbers score their first goal in a designated game. Last Friday, nearly 11,000 stuffed animals were donated and stormed the pitch when the Timbers took a 1-0 lead over the Minnesota Thunder on fourth-minute goal by Josten at PGE Park. The Timbers went on to win 5-1.
