
Timbers Battle in 3-2 Loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC on the Road

VANCOUVER, B.C. - Despite overcoming a two-goal deficit, the Portland Timbers suffered a 3-2 loss to Cascadia rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Saturday night. Entering the second half down 2-0 to the 'Caps, Evander and Felipe Mora each got on the scoresheet to level the road match for the Timbers, but an 87th minute Vancouver goal would seal the result for the opposition.
Goal Scorers and Playmakers
Evander notched his second goal and second assist of the season in tonight's match, making him the first Timbers player to tally multiple goals and multiple assists in 2024. It also marked Evander's second multi-goal contribution performance of the 2024 campaign. Notably, both of Evander's goals this season have come from outside of the 18-yard box. In his second appearance of the season, Felipe Mora scored his first goal of the campaign. It came just 13 minutes after he entered the match as a substitute. Cristhian Paredes also recorded his second assist of the season in the match.

VAN - Fafá Picault, 29th minute: Vancouver delivered a cross into the box. Timbers defender Zac McGraw attempted to clear the ball, but it fell to Fafá Picault at the top of the 18 and he put away a one-touch shot into the right-side netting.
POR - Evander (Cristhian Paredes), 52nd minute: The Timbers progressed the ball up the left wing to find Cristhian Paredes, who dribbled centrally and played a square pass across the top of the 18 for Evander. Evander took one touch before firing a shot into the upper right corner of the goal.
POR - Felipe Mora (Evander), 77th minute: From the left side of the field, Evander served a cross towards the back post for Felipe Mora, who finished the play with a diving header.
VAN - Ryan Raposo (Fafá Picault), 87th minute: The Whitecaps forced a save from Timbers goalkeeper Max Crépeau, but Ryan Raposo was there to tap in the loose ball from close range.
