Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers have signed defender Cameron Dunn for the rest of the 2008 season, it was announced today. Dunn, a second year pro, will be available for the Timbers' road match against the Minnesota Thunder on Saturday.
"As we approach the final stretch of the season, it was important for us to add another quality defender, like Cameron, with experience in this league," said Gavin Wilkinson, Timbers general manager and head coach. "Cameron can play anywhere across the back and helps us fill the void left by Tim Karalexis' injury. He will be a key part of our run into the playoffs."
Dunn, 24, played in 10 matches as a rookie for the California Victory in 2007. A native of Alta Loma, Calif., Dunn played in 73 matches during his collegiate career at UC Irvine, where he was a three-time All-Big West selection, including a first-team nod as a junior in 2005. Following his time at UC Irvine, Dunn was selected by Chivas USA in the fourth round of the 2007 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
In 2008, Dunn was a member of amateur club Hollywood United that advanced to the second round of the U.S. Open Cup and also made two MLS Reserve Division appearances for Chivas USA.
Additionally, the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer recalled defenders Scott Bolkan and Vardan Adzemian for the club's Reserve Division match on Sunday against the San Jose Earthquakes. Bolkan and Adzemian were acquired by the Timbers on April 14 on loan from Los Angeles for the 2008 season.
The Timbers face the Minnesota Thunder on the road Saturday at the National Sports Center at 5:05 p.m. (Pacific). A live broadcast of the match is available at www.portlandtimbers.com; with a live video webcast available through USL Live at www.usllive.com.
