
Tim Shibuya Named MWL Pitcher of the Week

Cedar Rapids, IA - RHP Tim Shibuya has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the period August 26 - September 2. The Midwest League and MLB Baseball Advanced Media determine the award.
During that period, Shibuya made one start (on August 31), throwing a complete game shutout at Clinton where he allowed four hits, walked one and struck out six. He finished the 2013 season with a 4-0 record, 0.96 ERA and one save in 10 appearances (four starts). The Twins selected Shibuya in the 23rd round of the 2011 First Year Player draft and he spent last season with Beloit.
Dalton Pompey of the Lansing Lugnuts was named the MWL Player of the Week for the same period.
The Kernels begin the first round of the MWL Playoffs at Quad Cities on Wednesday, August 4th with first pitch set for 7:00 pm. Game 2 (and 3 if necessary) will be at Perfect Game Field in Cedar Rapids on Thursday, September 5th starting at 6:35 pm with the gates opening at 5:30 pm.
