South Bend, Indiana (September 3, 2013)- Silver Hawks projected to hit between 230,000-235,000 total fans for the year and surpassed their goal in the 2nd year of new ownership. Silver Hawks hit attendance goal for regular season with a final number of 237,448. Total attendance for 2013 is up 25% from 2012's total attendance of 189,575 and has doubled since 2011's season total attendance of 112,795.
The 2013 season is the 2nd highest regular season attendance in Silver Hawks' franchise history. 1994 is the highest in franchise history with a record of 258,424, however the 1994 season was the year of the Major League Baseball strike, leaving minor league baseball as the only way to catch a game.
Rounding out this year's success your Silver Hawks had 20 sellouts vs. 7 in 2012. Continuing the stellar season your 1st Half Midwest League Eastern Division Champions, South Bend Silver Hawks, have home field advantage for the first round playoff series. 2009 was the last time your Silver Hawks made the playoffs. The first game of the series will begin on Wednesday, September 4th, on the road against the Great Lakes Loons, with the remaining two games being held at the Cove on the 5th and 6th, if necessary. Thursday, Sept. 5th will be a Thirsty Thursday night with $1.00 beer and soda through the whole game.
The South Bend Silver Hawks are a Class A minor league team affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The team is owned and operated by Swing-Batter-Swing, LLC whose sole shareholder is Andrew T. Berlin of Chicago, IL.
