CHARLESTON, SC-Charleston RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols has announced that Tim Savona has been hired as the Director of Food & Beverage for the New York Yankees' Class A affiliate.
Savona, who calls Indianapolis, IN and Columbus, OH home, is a 2005 graduate of Bowling Green State University. He began his sports career in Viera, FL, interning with the Washington Nationals' inaugural spring training season that led to a stint with the Brevard County Manatees of the Florida State League.
With the RiverDogs, Savona will over see the entire food and beverage operation for Joseph P. Riley, Jr.Park that handles the concessions needs for all RiverDogs and Citadel home baseball games in addition to the many special events that Riley Park hosts.
"Tim brings a tremendous amount of enthusiasm, professionalism and excitement to our food and beverage operation, one that we've received a tremendous amount of positive exposure in the past," said Echols. "Food and beverage is a huge part of the family-oriented RiverDogs experience that we showcase."
Savona replaces Jason Kerton, who held the post for the last two seasons. Kerton resigned to enter private business.
The food and beverage operation at RiverDogs' games has been exposed nationally through many avenues, including ESPN The Magazine and The Food Network, among others.
"I am extremely impressed with the city of Charleston and look forward to supplying our many fans with a quality balance of empty calories and nutritional glee," said Savona.
