Tim Hardaway named GM in Miami
February 26, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Miami Majesty News Release
Miami, Florida. Demetrius Ford, co-owner of the ABA Miami expansion professional basketball team starting play in November today announced that former NBA great Tim Hardaway will serve as President/General Manager and co-owner.
"I can't tell you how pleased we are to have Tim with us. He is a winner, pure and simple, and he will bring that winning attitude to the team both on and off the court. There's no doubt that he will help make our team a major force in the league," stated Ford.
After graduating from University of Texas at El Paso, Hardaway entered the NBA and played for the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets - and was named to the NBA All Star team five times. Hardaway added, "I really like the ABA. The players are surprisingly talented which accounts for the fact that so many are signed to NBA contracts and good international contracts. And the game itself is very exciting - fast, high scoring, demanding - sort of like good Division I play or international play. I think the people of Miami will like it - and of course, the tickets are very affordable. We're ready to go."
