Tim Green named SPHL player of the month

Columbus Cottonmouths forward Tim Green has been named the SPHL player of the month for February.

Last month, Green picked up 11 goals and 9 assists in 13 games. He is now fifth in the league overall in points scored with 64. In 52 games played this season, the Camrose, Alberta native has picked up 32 goals and 32 assists. He currently leads all Snakes in points scored.

This marks Green's fifth season as a Snake. In 2004-05, he helped lead the Snakes to the 2004-05 SPHL championship in his rookie season with 60 points. His 90 points in 2006 ranked him third in the league in points scored, and he led all SPHL players in goals scored with 41. In 2007, he guided the Snakes to a first-place regular season finish with 69 points. Green had 45 points in 49 games last season. To date, the forward has collected 328 points in 250 games since coming to Columbus in 2004.

The Snakes host Huntsville and Twin City this Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7. Cottonmouths player cards will be distributed this weekend. The first 1,000 fans on Friday and Saturday will receive the first and second sets of player cards, respectively. Player cards are sponsored by Carmike Cinemas and WLTZ 38. Saturday is also FanFest, where fans can enjoy free food, music, fun and games, beginning at 3 p.m. The third and final set of player cards will be given out at Hollywood Connection Sunday, March 15 from 1-3 p.m. All Snakes will be on hand to sign player cards.

The Cottonmouths players have the opportunity this weekend to get Snakes fans a great deal on tickets to March 17's St. Patrick's Day game with our Lucky Goals ticket promotion. The total number of goals scored against the Snakes in the March 6 & 7 home games combined, will equal the price of upper level tickets to the Tuesday, March 17 game. Specially-priced tickets will be available until Monday, March 16 at 5 p.m. Prices will be set at $2 minimum and $8 maximum.

Saturday, March 20, the Cottonmouths will be hosting Jerome 'Boom Boom' Bechard's 40th birthday bash. Forty lucky fans will have a chance to win a $4,000 jackpot. More information will be announced soon.
