Tim Alberts named Rawlings Batter of the Month

AMARILLO, TX - The American Association of Independent Baseball announced today that Amarillo Sox outfielder Tim Alberts has been named the Rawlings Batter of the Month for the month of June.

Alberts hit .411 for the month, hitting four homeruns and 32 RBI for the month. Additionally, he hit 13 doubles, one triple, walked 11 times and scored 18 runs.

For the season, Alberts leads the team with a .390 batting average with five homeruns and 40 RBI. He ranks fourth in the league in batting and ninth in RBI.

His signature game came on June 26 against the Shreveport-Bossier Captains. He went 6-6 with a two doubles, a walk, a homerun, three runs scored and seven RBI, including the game-winning RBI single in the tenth inning to lead the Sox past the Captains 21-20. The six hit performance tied an American Association record for hits.

Winnipeg Goldeyes pitcher Luis Villarreal was named the Rawlings Pitcher of the Month.
