NORWICH, CT - The Connecticut Tigers (13-7) knocked off the Williamsport Crosscutters (10-10), 2-1. For the Tigers this was their fourth try at a sweep this season and were able to accomplish the feat by coming from behind for the second consecutive game.

The Crosscutters snagged the lead with an RBI single from Luke Williams in the first. The unearned run came against Connecticut starter Austin Sodders who ended up pitching three innings, allowing three hits, allowing just the lone run, while also striking out two.

Trailing 1-0 all the way into the sixth inning, Sam Machonis reached on an error to get on in front of Blaise Salter. Salter deposited an RBI double against Felix Paulino into the left centerfield gap to score Machonis from first and tie the game.

John Hayes promptly came out of pen and logged a shutdown inning in the seventh and eventually picked up his first professional win. Hayes ended up pitching two innings, one hit and three strikeouts in the victory.

In the seventh, Tanner Donnels singled into right field to start the threat for Connecticut. Andres Sthormes stroked an RBI double into the right centerfield alley to score Donnels and give the Tigers their first lead of the ballgame.

Joe Navilhon pitched a season-high out of the pen, logging two innings and closed out his first ballgame as a pro. Navilhon allowed three singles but also grabbed three strikeouts in his outing.

The Tigers head into their first off day of the year tied with the Lowell Spinners for first place in the Stedler Division standings. The two teams will square off this weekend in Lowell, Mass. First pitch on Friday is slated for 7:05 p.m.
