Tigers Sweep Cyclones in a Rain Shortened Game

Norwich, CT - The Connecticut Tigers (15-16) defeated the Brooklyn Cyclones (15-16) in a rain shortened five inning game by a score of 2-0 Monday night at Dodd Stadium. RF Mike Gerber (2-3) picked up a two-hit performance for the Tigers that included a first inning RBI single that scored DH Rashad Brown (1-3).

Tigers RHP Austin Pritcher (4-1) picked up his fourth win of the season as he pitched three scoreless innings while giving up three hits, two walks, and struck out two batters. Pritcher relieved starter RHP Josh Heddinger after he pitched two scoreless innings while giving up two hits and striking out one batter.

In the fourth inning, Gerber added his second hit of the game with a leadoff single. 3B Joey Pankake (1-2) followed with a single that moved Gerber to third base. With LF Kasey Coffman (0-2) at bat, Pankake and Gerber pulled off the double steal as Gerber scored the second run of the game.

The Tigers head to Niles, OH to take on the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in a three-game series starting Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. Tigers RHP Tanner Bailey (1-1, 0.95) takes the mound for Connecticut. Mahoning Valley has yet to announce their rotation. The pre-game show begins at 6:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and cttigers.com.

The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League. The Tigers are in their 5th season at Dodd Stadium. Tickets are now on sale!
