Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Red Deer, AB - Despite a promising start in the 1st period, a couple late 1st period goals by the Red Deer Rebels would take any momentum the Medicine Hat may have started with on route to a 5-2 win over the Tigers Wednesday Night at the Peavy Mart Centrium.

Medicine Hat opened the first 12 minutes of the tilt with their Central Division rivals going toe to toe with the Rebels but both teams couldn't muster any goal scoring until late in the opening period. First Marek Schneider would score with traffic in front beating Tigers start Beckett Langkow (Vegreville, AB) at 17:33 but the goal would get called back on a goalie interference judgement keeping the game scoreless, but just off the ensuing draw, Kai Uchacz would score his 19th of the season to give Red Deer a 1-0 lead. Moments later, exactly 1:24 later it would be a Christoffer Sedoff goal beating LAngkow once again to make it 2-0 Rebels after 1.

Off to the second period where the Tigers would starting the frame on the power play but it would be Jace Isley that would draw a penalty shot shorthanded just 59 seconds into the period and would score his 15th to give Red Deer a commanding 3-0 lead.

Later on in the period at 6:13 Rebels captain Jayden Grubbe would notch his 7th of the season to give Red Deer a 4-0 lead and spell the end of the night for Langkow in net as he was replaced by Evan May (Nanaimo, BC).

Despite the change of netminders, the Rebels would solve May thanks to a Uchacz re-direct for his 20th of the year and second of the night to move Red Deer's lead to 5-0 heading to the third period.

The Tigers would finally solve Rebels goaltender Rhett Stoesser thanks to Brayden Boehm's (Nanaimo, BC)10th of the season to break the goose egg at 5:57 an then it's Brenden Lee (Seattle, WA) cashing in on the power play for his 16th of the season and 11th PPG of the year to make it a three goal deficit for the Tigers.

That would be all the Tigers could get on the night as the Rebels take Wednesday's game at home 5-2.

The Tigers would be outshot 30-27 and go 1/6 on the power play and kill 5/6 minor penalties.

It's a tight turn for the Tigers as they'll take a day to refocus on Thursday before heading back on the bus Friday with an entanglement with the Lethbridge Hurricanes Friday Night at the Enmax Centre. Medicine Hat will play their next home game Saturday at Co-op Place as the Tigers welcome Moose Jaw Warriors.
