NORWICH, CT - The Connecticut Tigers (8-6) earned a hard-fought series-win against the Lowell Spinners at Dodd Stadium, 5-4. The Tigers have won both of their series at Dodd Stadium in 2016.

For the third game this series, the Spinners jumped ahead early. Yoan Aybar shot an RBI-single into centerfield to produce the first run of the ballgame.

The Tigers answered with a run of their own in the third, Joey Havrilak deposited a sacrifice fly to right to knot the game up, 1-1.

In the fourth inning the Tigers gained their first lead of the game. Connecticut sent nine batters to the dish and plated four runs. Anthony Pereira, in his first game back with Connecticut, drilled a two-run double down the right field line. Will Savage added to the lead with a sacrifice fly and Blaise Salter capped the scoring in the fourth with an RBI-single.

The Spinners responded immediately with a pair of runs against Soto in the fifth inning. Soto could not get through the fifth and Joe Navilhon came on to get out of the frame without any further damage.

After a run in the sixth the Spinners trailed 5-4 going to the seventh inning. Yordy Cabrera came out of the bullpen for the Tigers and got into trouble. With runners at second and third and nobody out, Cabrera was able to bear down. Cabrera got back-to-back strikeouts, before getting a comebacker to the mound to maintain the one-run lead.

Eduardo Jimenez recorded his third save of the year, pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Making Jimenez three-for-three in save opportunities this season.

Josh Lester (3-4, 2 doubles) and Cole Bauml (3-4, RBI) both contributed three-hit nights for the Tigers.
