Tiger-Cats sign Alfonso Roundtree

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that import defensive back Alfonso Roundtree has signed a one-year (plus an option) contract with the team.

"Alfonso is a great addition to our secondary," said Ticats defensive coordinator Kavis Reed. "We expect him to suit up for us right away and make an immediate impact. He's proven himself at this level and we're very excited to add a player of his caliber to our lineup."

Roundtree, a 5-10, 190-pound native of Bradenton, Florida played the 2004 season with the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe, recording 35 tackles and two interceptions in ten games, earning an All-NFL Europe selection. Roundtree previously spent three seasons (2000-02) in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes, Ottawa Renegades and Toronto Argonauts, making 95 tackles and six interceptions in 45 career games. The Tulane alumnus was released by the NFL's Miami Dolphins on August 10th.

The Ticats also announced that import kicker Chuck Tack has been released.

The Ticats' (1-8) host the Toronto Argonauts (6-3) at Ivor Wynne Stadium on Monday, September 5th for the annual Labour Day Classic. The game will be broadcasted live on AM 900 CHML.
