San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas---The Rio Grande Valley White Wings scored in each of the first four innings to jump out to an early lead that they did not relinquish on the way to a 11-2 win Monday night at Foster Field.
Leivi Ventura (18) capped off a two-run first inning for the White Wings with a home run in his third straight game. Rio scored thrice more in the second on a two-run single by Wilmer Pino and an RBI double by the league's leading hitter, David Peralta. A solo shot off the bat of Edgar Trejo (11) put the White Wings up 6-0.
The only Colts runs of the game came in the bottom of the third. Ronnie Gaines tripled to start the inning and scored on a wild pitch, before Cory Patton hit his 25th home run of the season to put him in sole position of second place in the North American League home run race.
Trejo (12) homered again for the White Wings in a three-run fourth and Rio scored one more on a Wellington Dotel (10) solo blast in the seventh.
White Wings starter Eric Blackwell navigated through a couple jams, getting an inning ending double play with the bases loaded in the second and using the help of reliever Wander Perez to get out of a similar situation in the sixth inning.
Blackwell (8-3, 3.05) earned the win after he allowed two earned runs on seven hits in five and one third innings pitched, while Colts starter Alfredo Caballero (0-2, 12.15) gave up six runs, two earned, on six hits in two and a third innings to take the loss.
