Norfolk Tides News Release

Norfolk rallied with six unanswered runs to knock off Indianapolis 10-9 in a wild game Friday night at Harbor Park.

Trailing 9-4 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Tides had six straight batters reach base after the first two outs of the inning were recorded as they rallied to tie the game. Jeff Fiorentino had an RBI single, Brandon Snyder had a two-run single and Victor Diaz added a run-scoring double in the frame, with Snyder scoring the tying run on a wild pitch by Mike Koplove.

The Tides then took the lead one inning later as Robby Hammock led off the eighth with a double, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Carlos Rojas, and scored on a single by Joey Gathright - his third hit of the game.

The rally from the five-run deficit was the largest lead the Tides have overcome in a win this season.

Josh Perrault (1-0) earned the victory with 2.1 innings of shutout relief, as he retired seven of the eight batters he faced. The win was Perrault's first at the Triple-A level.

Norfolk had jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but the Indians pulled within 4-2 on two solo homers by Jeff Clement, who was playing his first game with Indianapolis since being acquired in a trade with Seattle.

The Indians then took the lead in the sixth inning, as they sent 12 men to the plate and scored seven times off relievers Dennis Sarfate and Ross Wolf.

The Tides will welcome the Syracuse Chiefs to Harbor Park Saturday night for the start of a four-game series. David Pauley (7-9, 4.08) will take the mound for Norfolk against right-hander Shairon Martis (3-1, 4.68), with first pitch scheduled for 7:15.
