Norfolk Tides News Release
Gwinnett's Brooks Conrad and Brian Barton combined for two homers and eight RBI as the Braves topped the Tides 11-3 Thursday night at Harbor Park.
Conrad fell a triple short of the cycle in the contest and delivered the decisive blow - a two-out grand slam in the 5th inning that gave the Braves a 6-2 advantage. Barton added a two-run blast an inning later off of Andy Mitchell (9-5), helping the Braves up their lead over the Tides in the IL South to 7.0 games.
Jeff Fiorentino once again led the Tides offense, as he clubbed a solo homer in the 3rd inning and doubled home a run in the 8th. Fiorentino is now hitting .306 with a team-leading 11 home runs this year.
Norfolk and Gwinnett will conclude their four-game series on Friday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15. David Pauley (8-10, 4.50) will take the mound for the Tides against southpaw Jonny Venters (3-5, 5.68).
