Edmonton Elks News Release
(Edmonton) This year's Eskimo Women's Dinner, presented by Prism Flow Products, is on Monday, Oct.15, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the field house at Commonwealth Stadium. Tickets go on sale to the general public on August 1.
The women of Edmonton Eskimo football join forces with the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation team to turn the whisper into a roar in the fight against ovarian cancer. To support research to battle the disease with a 60% mortality rate among women, the Eskimos hosted the inaugural Eskimo Women's Dinner in 2007, with proceeds going to ovarian cancer research at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women. The Edmonton Eskimo Women's Ovarian Cancer Research Endowment Fund was introduced in September 2008 as a means to provide long-term, sustainable-funding for ovarian cancer research.
With the help of the Women's Dinner, the Edmonton Eskimos and various other donors, the women of Eskimo football raised nearly $60,000 last year alone. Funds raised will be made available to physician-researchers who practice at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women in the area of gynecological oncology.
