
Ticats Sign Trio of Canadians

Hamilton, Ontario -- The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the club has signed three Canadian players. Receiver Chris Rankin, defensive back David Stipe, and offensive lineman Jim Merrick have all agreed to one year (plus an option) contracts.
All three players have been invited to the Tiger-Cats' training camp taking place at McMaster University from May 28 to June 9.
Rankin, a Hamilton native and former McMaster Marauder, made one special teams tackle in his only game played last season. Rankin previously played under Ticats coach Greg Marshall at McMaster University, earning CIS First Team All-Canadian and OUA First Team All-Star honours in 2001.
Stipe, a defensive back from Mississauga, Ontario, played in one game last season for the Tiger-Cats, recording two special teams tackles and one defensive tackle.
Merrick, hailing from Winnipeg, Ontario, was selected in the fourth round (31st) overall of the 2003 CFL College Draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The 6'2", 292-pound offensive lineman earned a nod as a CIS first team All-Canadian after his final season with McGill University in 2002.
