Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that they have acquired linebacker JoJuan Armour from the BC Lions in exchange for the negotiation rights to offensive lineman David Pruce and a conditional third-round pick in the 2007 CFL Draft.
"JoJuan's ability to play both the strong and weak linebacker positions gives our defence a lot of flexibility," said GM Rob Katz. "His versatility should give Kavis (Reed) a lot of options going into training camp."
The 6'0", 225-lbs Toledo, Ohio native played in nine games for BC in 2005 finishing the season with 17 tackles. Armour signed with BC in 2004 but missed most of the season with a thumb injury. In five games he recorded 14 defensive tackles and two special teams tackles.
After being drafted in 1999 by the NFL's Oakland Raiders, he was later picked up off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals where he played four seasons. During his time with the Bengals, Armour played in 38 games, starting in 19, and recorded 113 tackles.
Armour attended the University of Miami, Ohio where he played in all 44 games during his four-year collegiate career. He was named Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a linebacker in both his junior and senior seasons. He finished his career ranking 10th all-time at Miami, Ohio with 396 tackles and was captain of a 10-1 team as a senior, leading the club with 16 tackles for loss, for 66 yards. Armour was also the recipient of the John Baumes Award as Miami's outstanding freshman following the 1995 season.
