Ottawa Renegades Name Longtime Pro Scout Hal Dyer as Director of U.S. Scouting

The Ottawa Renegades announced today that Hal Dyer has been named the U.S. Director of Scouting for their Canadian Football League Team. Dyer, who served as an Eastern U.S. regional scout in 2005 will take the position previously held by Head Coach John Jenkins. Coach Hal Dyer brings exceptional experience to this position for the Renegades having scouted and coached several years in the Canadian Football League. Executive Vice-President Forrest Gregg, remarked; " We have known Hal Dyer for a long time as a dedicated football man, we believe his exceptional evaluator of talent and will be of great benefit to the program, and we are very happy to have him aboard"

And newly appointed Head Coach John Jenkins added; " Hal will be an invaluable asset to our organization here with the Ottawa Renegades due to his versatile talents as a scout, coach and evaluator of top talent. His work ethic is rare and his role as U.S. Director of Scouting will be where he makes his greatest impact for our team. I have been associated with Coach Dyer with three other professional teams and I am extremely excited for this professional association to continue." Hal Dyer brings over 35 years of experience in coaching and scouting background to Ottawa. Dyer will continue to work closely with Coach Forrest Gregg and Coach Jenkins on all personnel matters involving Free Agent prospective players from the United States.

This past season in 2005 Dyer served the Renegades as a regional scout who worked specifically in the Eastern region of the United States, where he was active covering college seniors and NFL players in training camps.

Dyer brings with him valuable personnel and scouting experience from years in the National Football League with the Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams. He was a member of the "Canada Nine" scouting group of the CFL from the early eighties, as well as having coaching and scouting stints for various CFL teams such as the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, B.C. Lions, Toronto Argonauts, Calgary Stampeders and in 2005 with the Ottawa Renegades. Dyer's experience also includes college coaching at Florida State University, Memphis State University, University of Cincinnati, Xavier University and Middle Tennessee State as well as Junior College football. In addition to the CFL and NFL Dyer also coached in the Continental Football League and the Arena Football League.

Dyer was a two-sport standout in College at Florida State in football and baseball and continued playing professionally in baseball. He began his coaching career in the high school ranks in the Miami Florida area. Hal also holds degrees from Florida State University, and is currently completing a doctorate at Middle Tennessee State University.

Dyer will now continue to work with and manage a U.S. scouting network that uncovered over 1000 Free Agent players who had recent playing experience in the National Football League.
