February 20, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

Come on out to CenturyTel Center on Thursday night as the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs take to the ice against the Corpus Christi Rayz for the first of two home games this week. Only seven home games remain in the regular season for the Mudbugs, who have a seven-point lead for the best record in the CHL. Join us Thursday night for the Mudbugs and Rayz at 7:05 pm.

Following a pair of defeats to Texas that ended their streak of 24 straight games without a regulation loss, Bossier-Shreveport rebounded in a big way last weekend with wins on three consecutive days. The Mudbugs swept the three-in-three in style, outscoring their opponents 15-1 along the way, including a dominating 9-0 victory over Odessa on Friday night at home. Starting tomorrow the 'Bugs are back at it again, playing a three-in-three for the third consecutive week.

Corpus Christi, meanwhile, is in quite the battle with Amarillo and Austin for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Southern Conference. The Rayz are two points behind the Gorillas and one point ahead of the Ice Bats for that last playoff opening in the South entering this week. Corpus Christi is coming off a 3-2 victory over Odessa on Saturday night. Rayz star Justin Quenneville scored twice in that game (he has 33 points in just 31 games) and goaltender Jason Tapp appeared in his season-high 45th game of the year, making 39 saves to earn his 17th win of the year.

Following Thursday night's game at home, the Mudbugs will travel west to try and take some revenge on the Texas Brahmas in a Friday night game at 7:05 pm at the NyTex Sports Centre. Bossier-Shreveport will then return home to renew its rivalry with the Mississippi RiverKings back at CenturyTel Center on Saturday night. Individual tickets for both home games can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700 and group tickets are on sale through the Mudbugs office at 318-752-BUGS.
