Pack The House For Charity This Friday

The Corpus Christi Rayz would like to remind fans that the fourth annual "Pack the House for Charity" Night at the American Bank Center will be held this Friday Night, February 22nd at 7:05pm as the Rayz host their biggest rivals, the Laredo Bucks. In the single biggest event of the Rayz season, the Rayz will attempt to "pack the American Bank Center" with fans and help raise money for three very deserving youth based organizations in Corpus Christi. The Rayz have joined forces with the Coastal Bend Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), the YWCA of Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Rise School for the charity event. Proceeds from this game will go to benefit the three organizations, and the public can support these fine organizations simply by attending the game. The public can participate in this terrific event by submitting monetary donations, purchasing tickets for a charity, ordering a sponsorship packages, or simply buying a ticket for themselves and their family. The larger the attendance is, the more money will be donated, and the more money the Rayz will give. Tax ID numbers are available for all three organizations, and all charitable donations, and sponsorship packages are tax deductable. Simply by attending this game, you can do your part to help the children of the South Texas community.

Over the past several years, "Pack the House for Charity" Nights have met with much success in various cities and since the American Bank Center opened, they have been wildly successful in Corpus Christi. Rayz President/CEO Doug Frank said he hopes to continue the trend of record-breaking attendance numbers to create an atmosphere unlike any other in South Texas while benefiting people in the local community.

"This is always such a special night for so many reasons," said Frank. "First of all, as a key figure in the city, we are privileged that we can help raise thousands of dollars for these very deserving organizations, who help our friends and neighbors in Corpus Christi and the South Texas community." Frank added, "The good fortune to be able to give to our community is enough of a reason to make this a worthwhile event. But, additionally, on Pack the House For Charity Night, we are able to create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere at the game. It's the most exciting game you could go to, and when over 7,000 fans are cheering the Rayz on, there's no better place to be in Corpus Christi."

Pack the House for Charity Night is the Rayz largest fundraising event of the season and has become a staple of the Rayz schedule. The event allows the team to raise awareness and resources for some wonderful organizations who truly make a difference in the community.

Unlike some other fundraising events, all the money raised from the Pack the House for Charity Night will remain in South Texas. The spirit of Pack the House for Charity Night is the people of the South Texas community helping one another. That makes this fundraiser different from others that often take place. The money raised by this event will remain in the community.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health agency aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect more than a million Americans. The Coastal Bend Chapter of the MDA holds an annual week-long Summer Camp for children in Bruceville, TX where children suffering from Muscular Dystrophy can participate in activities they may not normally have the opportunity to. The MDA relies on the support of volunteers and charitable donations to run this summer camp for hundreds of South Texas children each year.

The YWCA USA is a women's membership movement nourished by its roots in the Christian faith and sustained by the richness of many beliefs and values. Strengthened by diversity, the YWCA draws together members who strive to create opportunities for women's growth, leadership, and power in order to attain a common vision: peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. The YWCA will thrust its collective power toward the elimination of racism wherever it exists and by any means necessary.

The Rise School of Corpus Christi is the sixth Rise School in the nationwide chain. The Rise School is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving children who have developmental delays early attention to their lifestyle and education and also affords them the opportunity to co-exist with children of regular health. Studies have shown that this type of head start for children with Down Syndrome can be the difference between a life of dependency and self-sufficiency.

The purpose of the Rise School of Corpus Christi is to provide the highest quality early childhood education to all children including those children with developmental disabilities. The Rise School provides exemplary services based on recommended practices to young children with diverse abilities and their families. The school offers instructional opportunities through collaboration with various academic programs at local colleges and universities. They engage in research that positively influences practice in the field of early childhood education at the local, state and national levels. The Rise School Interfaces with the community through outreach and public awareness activities, disseminating information and providing technical assistance to other community based agencies, and affecting policy and systems change at the local, state and national levels.

All three of these groups are made up of tremendous people who volunteer their time and energy to ensure the betterment of children in the South Texas community. All three groups are non-profit organizations, whose purpose remains to protect, teach and advance the youth of our community. Each of the three groups will receive a monetary donation from the Rayz, in addition to a portion of ticket proceeds gained from the game on February 22nd. The entire Corpus Christi community is encouraged to be a part of "Pack the House for Charity" Night.
