Evansville Thunderbolts News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN - The Evansville Thunderbolts have three upcoming events in which players will be taking part in order to give back to the community. The Evansville Thunderbolt players are grateful for the support the community has given the new team and is always looking for ways to give back.
"Giving back to the community is our top priority," said Blake Bruner, assistant general manager. "In order for the fans to rally around us at the Ford Center, we have to prove that we really want to be here and support all the great local events."
4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22: Gobbler Gathering - Players will help distribute Thanksgiving food baskets to more than 2,200 tri-state families at the Evansville Rescue Mission.
4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5: Franklin Street Skate - The players will be on hand as the community dons their skates to ice skate on Franklin Street's first-ever synthetic ice rink. The lawn of the West Branch Library will be transformed from grass to an ice rink for the holidays. Pride, the Thunderbolts' mascot, will also make an appearance!
6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6: Shoe Carnival Player Signings - Evansville Thunderbolts players will be at both the west and east side Shoe Carnival locations to meet fans and sign autographs. Fans will be able to register to win Thunderbolts tickets and $50 in Shoe Carnival Reward Cards.
"Our mission was to keep pro hockey in Evansville; now we have to follow through with that," said Bruner. "The best way to do that is give back to charities and help out in the area as much as possible! We will strive to connect with each family, child and hockey fan this holiday season."
