ThunderBolts fight to stay in playoff picture
June 8, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Lakeland ThunderBolts News Release
Lakeland, Fla. â Lakeland's new National Indoor Football League (NIFL) team, the Lakeland ThunderBolts, play their last home game of the season Saturday. The event promises the best game this year as the Lakeland ThunderBolts fight to stay in the playoff picture.
The ThunderBolts take on the Montgomery Maulers Saturday evening at The Lakeland Center. In the last meeting, the Montgomery Maulers defeated the ThunderBolts 36-16. Without their starting quarterback, the ThunderBolts threw Michael Peeples into the flames.
However, Peeples has been in practice all week learning more about the offensive system, and seems promising for this weekend's pivotal game. If the ThunderBolts lose this game, based on statistical analysis, they could be eliminated from the playoff hunt.
Peeples had always been known in college as the "go-to guy" in high-pressure situations and is promised as the best back-up quarterback in the league. He is also 1-0 at home, beating the Kissimmee Kreatures 41-31 with a stunning 11-18 completion rate, with 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. The question now becomes: "Will Peeples step up to the plate again in this high-pressure situation?"
This weekend's game also happens to be Fan Appreciation Night. Budweiser will be on hand giving out free samples of Budweiser products and prize give-a-ways!
Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m., so purchase your tickets and support your home team! GO BOLTS!
