New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release
Rio Rancho, NM - The NBA Development League New Mexico Thunderbirds announced today that they will have the second selection in the 2010 NBA D-League Draft.
The Thunderbirds had the first pick in the 2009 Draft and selected Carlos Powell from the University of South Carolina. Powell was an NBA D-League All Star last season, averaging a team best 22.1 points per game to go along with 5.0 assists and rebounds per game.
"We are very excited by the opportunity this year's draft presents for the T-Birds to rebuild our program and add to our existing talent pool," Thunderbirds owner Jackie Bregman said. "Under Coach Ham's leadership, we are confident that we'll be able to field an exceptional team this year."
The eight round draft utilizes a "serpentine" format, meaning the order alternates in each round. The Thunderbirds will therefore pick second in the first and 15th in the second round.
Thunderbirds season tickets are currently on sale with full and partial season packages available. For more information call 265-3865 or visit www.nmtbirds.com.
