Reno Bighorns News Release

NEW YORK- The Reno Bighorns won the 2010 NBA Development League draft lottery Tuesday night, and will have the first overall selection in the upcoming draft.

The Bighorns, NBA D-League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, picked-up the top slot in the draft lottery today at the league's annual coaches meetings in Dallas. The New Mexico Thunderbirds earned the second pick, with the Maine Red Claws, Texas Legends and Springfield Armor rounding out the top five.

The NBA D-League Draft utilizes a "serpentine" format, meaning the order will alternate in each of the eight rounds. Thus, Reno will have the first overall pick, and then will make the final selection of the second round, first pick in the third round and so on. The Draft will be conducted via teleconference on Nov. 1 from the NBA D-League headquarters in New York.

"The lottery is always an exciting time because it signals the tip-off of a new NBA D-League season," said Chris Alpert, Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel for the NBA D-League. "With the Draft order in place, teams are one step closer to determining their opening day rosters for the 2010-11 season."

The order of the first round will be:

1. Reno Bighorns

2. New Mexico Thunderbirds

3. Maine Red Claws

4. Texas Legends

5. Springfield Armor

6. Iowa Energy

7. Rio Grande Valley Vipers

8. Utah Flash

9. Dakota Wizards

10. Fort Wayne Mad Ants

11. Sioux Falls Skyforce

12. Bakersfield Jam

13. Tulsa 66ers

14. Austin Toros

15. Erie BayHawks

16. Idaho Stampede

Last season, Reno selected guard Desmon Farmer with the seventh overall pick in the NBA D-League Draft. The Bighorns picked-up forward Antonio Meeking with the 10th overall selection in the 2008 Draft.

Under new Head Coach Eric Musselman, Reno begins its third season on Saturday, Nov. 20, at home against the Utah Flash. The Bighorns look to build on a successful 2009-10 campaign, which saw them earn the first playoff berth in franchise history.

Reno Bighorns 2010-11 full- and partial-season tickets are available now by calling the Bighorns front office at (775) 284-2NBA or visiting RenoBighorns.com.
