Thunderbirds Acquire Ibok

New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release
Rio Rancho, NM - The New Mexico Thunderbirds have announced they have signed center Idong Ibok (6-11, 260, Michigan State) and waived guard Jason Horton.
Ibok played four seasons at Michigan State under head coach Tom Izzo. During his career he played in 108 games and was a four-time member of the Academic All-Big Ten team. He was also a member of two final four teams, in 2005 when he redshirted and in 2009 during his senior season.
During the 2006-07 season, Ibok averaged career highs in points (2.0), rebounds (2.3) and blocks (1.0) per game.
He is originally from Lagos, Nigeria.
To make room for Ibok, the Thunderbirds waived guard Jason Horton who was averaging 4.9 points and 4.7 assists per game.
Ibok's first game will be on Friday, Dec. 17 for Toys for Tots Night, where families donating an unwrapped toy will receive a free kid's ticket to the game. In addition, there will be a $1,000 half court shot contest during half time.
The Thunderbirds will wrap up the month on Dec. 31 with "Hoopin' and Hollerin' New Years Eve", featuring a special performance by actor and comedian, Steven Michael Quezada.
