Fazekas' 24 Not Enough as 'Horns Fall to T-Birds, 115-107

RIO RANCHO, N.M.- Nick Fazekas poured in a season-high 24 points for the Bighorns Wednesday night, but Reno came up short in a 115-107 loss to the New Mexico Thunderbirds in the Santa Ana Star Center.

After falling behind 35-27 after one quarter, Reno (7-3) stormed back in the second to take a 57-56 halftime lead. But New Mexico (6-4) would pull away in the second half, outscoring the 'Horns by four in the third and five in the fourth to hand Reno its second-straight loss.

Patrick Ewing, Jr. led Reno with 25 points, while Fazekas added 24 on 11-of-17 shooting. Aaron Miles added 12 points for the Bighorns, and tied a franchise record by dishing out 14 assists. It was the sixth double-digit assist output of the season for the former Kansas standout, who leads the NBA Development League in helpers.

New Mexico was led by Shane Edwards, who scored 22 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Josh Bostic added 20 points and nine assists for the T-Birds, who shot 58% from the floor Wednesday night, the highest field-goal percentage that Reno has allowed this season.
