Thunder Wins 5-3

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Craig Macdonald and Zac Pearson each registered three points Friday night to lead the Bloomington PrairieThunder to a 5-3 International Hockey League victory before 2,437 people at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The win kept the PrairieThunder undefeated in five games at home this season and pushed its home victory string to six, dating back to last year. It also kept Bloomington in a tie for first place in the standings with a 7-3-0-1 record and 15 points. Dayton's record dropped to 5-7-2-0 (12 points).

Macdonald scored his first of two goals on a power play 1:16 into the game off assists by Jon Booras and Jesse Dudas. The PrairieThunder took a 2-0 advantage 12 minutes later on a Bill Bagron power play effort with assists to Brian Boulay and Pearson.

Dayton came back to tie the game 2-2 with goals from John Snowden in the second period and from Dan Lapointe early in third period. Snowden's effort was a power play with assists to Michael Mullen and Matt Auffrey, who also had assists on Lapointe's goal.

Macdonald gave the PrairieThunder the lead for good with 16 minutes left in the game off assists by Booras and Pearson. Jamie Carroll added what proced to be the game-winner three minutes later on an assist by Ryan Finnerty.

Pearson scored the frinal goal for Bloomington 10 seconds later with assists to Macdonald and Dudas. Dayton's final goal came with 9:21 left in the contest on a power play on an unassisted effort by Joe VanCulin.

Andrew Martin earned the victory in net for Bloomington, stopping 20 of 23 shots. Derek MacIntyre was the losing goalie with 27 stops on 32 attempts. The PrairieThunder was 2 for 5 on the power play with Dayton 2 for 6.

Bloomington returns to action Saturday with a 7:05 p.m. contest against Quad City at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
