
Thunder to Broadcast All 64 Games

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder announced today that they have signed a letter of intent to carry all of their regular season and playoff games for the 2003-04 season on KFTI AM 1070 "The Ranch".
Each broadcast will feature a pregame show, as well as an extended postgame show, in which Thunder head coach Derek Laxdal will recap the game and answer fans' questions. A full webcast will also be included for every game..
"Journal Broadcasting has been a tremendous supporter of Thunder Hockey since day one and we are thrilled that they are interested in getting even more involved for this next season", said Thunder general manager David Holt. "With their increased participation we can now provide our fans with complete coverage of the Wichita Thunder."
Assistant general manager Joel T. Lomurno, in his eleventh season with the Thunder, will handle the play-by-play duties. This will be the first season in franchise history in which every Thunder game is broadcast live.
"We are thrilled to reach an agreement to bring the Thunder to The Ranch", said Journal Broadcast Group VP/general manager Chris Crawford. "We look forward to bringing the fans all of the Wichita Thunder excitement this season."
The Thunder also signed offensive forward Trevor Allman today and named him as one of their two player/assistant coaches. A fourth-year pro out of London, Ontario, Allman spent last season with the ECHL's Pensacola Ice Pilots, where he scored 40 points in 72 games. His best season came in 2001-02 with the Odessa Jackalopes, where he led the team with 37 goals, 64 points and was named the 'Jacks co-MVP.
"Trevor is a very solid forward who can play all three positions and is tremendous on special teams", said Laxdal. "He will give us a lot of depth up front and provide great leadership in the dressing room as well."
Allman played four seasons at Harvard University, picking up 52 points in 115 games. Over his three-year pro career he has compiled 77 goals and 159 points in 207 games. He is the seventh Thunder player under contract for 2003-04.
The Thunder, who drop the puck on their 12th CHL season, when training camp opens on Monday, October 6th, will host a pair of exhibition games at Ice Sports Wichita, taking on the Oklahoma City Blazers on Thursday, October 9th and the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday, October 11th. Both game will face-off at 7:00 p.m.
