Campbell and Laurila Return to Blazers Lineup
July 16, 2003 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Oklahoma City Blazers News Release
Oklahoma City, Okla. â The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League signed forward Ryan Campbell and defenseman Tim Laurila (luh-rill-uh), the club's front office announced today.
Campbell will be entering his fourth full season as a professional and third with Oklahoma City. The 5-10, 195-pounder from Orleans, Ontario skated in all 64 games for Oklahoma City last season, picking up 28 points (12-16-28) and serving 67 penalty minutes. In 181 games as a professional, Campbell has amassed 121 points (63-58-121), while serving 186 penalty minutes.
Laurila, a 6-4, 230-pound native of Moorehead, Minn., was added to the Blazers roster last season in late November. In 46 games, he picked up nine points (1-8-9) and served 45 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, the solid, stay-at-home rearguard skated in four full seasons at Michigan Tech, picking up 26 points (8-18-26) in 114 games.
"Both players were solid contributors to our hockey club last season," said Blazers head coach Doug Sauter. "Ryan was one of six players to play in all of our games last season so that proves he is durable. He is also versatile and can play anywhere we need him to. Laurila is a great asset to our team. His size in front of the net comes in handy as well as his right-hand shot. Both players will be expected to contribute in a similar fashion this next season."
Campbell and Laurila join goaltenders Boyd Ballard and Sean Connors and All-Star centerman Blair Manning as players signed by the Blazers for the 2003-04 season.
