Thunder suffers shootout loss

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Colin Chaulk scored as the fourth shooter in an International Hockey League shootout to give the Fort Wayne Komets a 3-2 victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder before 7,632 people Friday night at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

The loss dropped the PrairieThunder record to 14-12-2-3 (33 points) ahead of Saturday's 7:05 p.m. game against Port Huron at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The PrairieThunder scored the first two goals. Matthew Spiller netted the first one on a power play with 15:20 remaining in the first period on assists by Jason Lepine and Matt McIlvane.

Craig Macdonald added to the lead with 16:38 to go in the second period on an assist by Cole Ruwe.

Fort Wayne's Chaulk cut the deficit in half with a power play goal on assists by Guy Dupuis and P.C. Drouin with 15:09 left in the second period. Bobby Phillips tied the game with 15:35 remaining in the third period on an assist by Chaulk.

Konstantine Shafranov, Dupuis and Chaulk scored in the shootout for Fort Wayne, while Macdonald and Lepine scored for the PrairieThunder.

Paulo Colaiacovo suffered the loss in net for Bloomington despite stopping 35 of 37 shots. Tim Haun was the winning goalie after replacing starter Nick Boucher after the first period. Haun pushed aside 16 of 17 shots.

Fort Wayne was 1 for 6 on the power play and Bloomington was 1 for 4.
