Trenton Thunder News Release

Trenton, NJ - The Trenton Thunder (24-18) completed a three-game sweep of the Portland Sea Dogs (12-27) with a 6-1 win Sunday afternoon at Waterfront Park. Corban Joseph, Austin Romine and Bradley Suttle each drove in two runs for the Thunder, and Manny Banuelos did not allow a run in four and two-thirds innings pitched. The win marks the fourth straight for the Thunder and their eighteenth win in 24 tries in 2011.

The Thunder wasted little time to strike against Portland starter Stolmy Pimentel. In the bottom of the first, Corban Joseph doubled home leadoff man Ray Kruml to immediately give Trenton the 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Bradley Suttle, the walk-off hero from Saturday night's game, lined a Pimentel offering over the right field wall for a two-run homerun, extending Trenton's lead to 3-0.

Right back at it against Pimentel in the bottom of the second, the Thunder struck for three more runs to stretch their lead to 6-0. Joseph picked-up his second RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly, and Austin Romine brought in two runs with his single to left field. Pimentel, the sixth-ranked prospect in the Boston Red Sox system, was chased from the game with just one out in the bottom of the second, allowing all six runs on seven Thunder hits.

Thunder starter Manny Banuelos made it back-to-back outings without allowing an earned run as the lefty lasted four and two-thirds innings, surrendering just two hits. Banuelos was forced to leave one out shy from qualifying for his second win of the season. His pitch count was elevated as he notched seven strikeouts and allowed four walks.

After an off day on Monday, the Thunder open a three-game set in Reading Tuesday at 6:35 PM. Thunder lefty Shaeffer Hall (2-3, 3.43) will get the start against Reading's RHP Austin Hyatt (5-1, 4.19). Tune-in to the game on 91.3 WTSR-FM and on trentonthunder.com. The SBLI Pre-Game Show with Hank Fuerst begins at 6:20 PM.
