McAllen Thunder News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- Despite a brilliant performance by starter Logan Williamson, the Colts fell to the McAllen Thunder, 5-2, Saturday night at Foster Field.

Williamson struck out a season-high 11 batters in seven innings. In that time, he gave up two runs, one earned, on five hits and three walks. Williamson settled for a no decision.

The Colts and Thunder were tied at two after six innings. First baseman Daryl Jones scored both runs for San Angelo, while right fielder Nelson Teilon drove in all the runs for McAllen.

Teilon had an RBI single in the fourth, an RBI double in the fifth, and then a go-ahead three-run homer in the ninth.

Centerfielder Craig Hertler and second baseman Mike Demperio drew back-to-back two-out walks, and Teilon followed with a home run down the left field line. It was his first of the season, and it proved to be the difference in the game.

Colts' closer Erik Draxton (1-1) surrendered the homer and took the loss. McAllen reliever Yunier Colon (1-1) earned the win, tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Reliever Chad Robinson pitched a scoreless ninth to collect his seventh save.

The Thunder will end their two-game series in San Angelo at Foster Field on Sunday night with the first pitch scheduled at 6:05 pm.

The Thunder is in their 2nd season of professional baseball in the 2012 North American League season. Season Tickets, Family Passes and group nights for Thunder games are available at 956-380-6256.
