Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, and head coach Matt Thomas announced today that the team has signed rookie left winger Andrew Favot (FAH-vot). Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Favot, 23, makes the Thunder his second ECHL team after making his pro debut with the Elmira Jackals in 2010-11. He skated in six ECHL regular season games, scored four points (1g-3a), earned a +4 rating and added one assist in three Kelly Cup Playoff games.

"Andrew has great potential to translate his game from the college level to the professional one," said Thomas. "That was evident with his stint in Elmira last season. He has a fearless approach to the game coupled with a high skill level that projects to be a point producer as a rookie."

Favot racked up two assists against Trenton in his debut with Elmira on Mar. 23.

The 5-foot-7 and 165-pound forward wrapped up his four-year (2007-11) college career with the Rochester Institute of Technology (NCAA) last year, leading the program in scoring with 43 points (13g-30a) in 36 games and helping guide the Tigers to an Atlantic Hockey Association regular season title.

Favot recorded a career-high 46 points (13g-33a) and led RIT with 33 assists in 40 games as a 2009-10 junior, teaming with current Thunder defenseman Dan Ringwald to help lead the Tigers to a berth in the NCAA Frozen Four.

"Getting a chance to play for the Stockton Thunder is an exciting opportunity and gives me the chance to prove myself at the next level," said Favot. "I've spoken with friends like Dan Ringwald and (former Thunder goaltender) Andrew Perugini, who have had nothing but great things to say about their experience. I've heard the Thunder is a first class organization. I look forward to contributing towards a winning season, and am excited to play in front of the fans."

Favot left the Tigers ranking second in the program's all-time scoring list (NCAA Division-I level) and recorded 130 points (41g-89a) in 140 career games. His +43 rating is the highest in the school's NCAA Division-I era.
