Tarek Baker (University of Wisconsin) is the hottest scorer for the Thunder and in the entire United States Hockey League. The second year forward is on a six game goal streak with nine finding the back of the net in the stretch. The Verona, WI native leads the Thunder with 24 points (14g, 10a) after netting the final goal Saturday night.
A slew of players have point streaks for the Thunder entering their Monday afternoon affair. Wyatt Kalynuk (Western Michigan University), Jeremy Davies (Northeastern University), Sean Harrison (Union College), Jake Slaker (St. Lawrence University), and Vlad Dzhioshvili (Cornell University) add to Baker as players with streaks of their own on Monday afternoon.
Des Moines has won four of their last six games and are not a team to be trifled with. The Buccaneers are in the thick of the Western Conference playoff standings despite being in seventh place entering Monday afternoon's game. They are still just seven points out of first place and four out of a playoff spot with 27 games still to play.
Kenny Hausinger leads the team with 30 points (12g, 18a) this season and has been on a tear as of late. In his last 11 games, the 5-foot-8 forward has 16 points (8g, 8a) and also has a point streak coming into the game. The forward from Anchorage, AK has 10 points (5g, 5a) over his last six games, dating back to the New Year. In the last meeting, Jan Ruzicka finished just one period before being replaced by Nick MacNab (Yale University). Ruzicka returned on Saturday, suffering a 6-3 defeat from the Tri-City Storm and allowing 5 goals on 40 shots.
