Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, and head coach Matt Thomas announced today that the team has re-signed left winger Jordan Fulton. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fulton, 23, named recipient of the 2010-11 Thunder "Rookie of the Year" award, led the club's first year players with 18 goals (ranking third on the entire team). He returns from last year's team that tied a Thunder record with 86 points and won 37 games, coming one win shy of tying another club mark.

"Jordan brings elements of speed, skill and fearlessness that were vital to our team's success last season," said Thomas. "He creates a ton of scoring opportunities with his speed and it fits the type of game plan we're trying to follow this next year. His willingness to stick up for teammates and change the game's momentum continues to make him a noticeable candidate to move up to the American Hockey League soon."

His 41 points (18g-23a) in 70 games ranked third in Thunder scoring. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound forward was acquired by the Thunder on Dec. 28 from the Kalamazoo Wings in exchange for left winger Aaron Clarke and followed with a 13-goal, 26-point output in 43 games.

The native of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota spent all four years (2006-10) of his college hockey career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (NCAA) and notched 58 points (24g-34a) in 156 games, adding 206 penalty minutes. He scored a career-high 12 goals and tied another with 17 points (12g-5a) as a 2008-09 junior, helping guide the Bulldogs to an appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four tournament.

Fulton's eight goals in March tied Jordan Foreman to lead the Thunder and he skated in American Hockey League training camp last year with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

"It's nice to know where you're going at this stage of the summer," said Fulton. "I love the fans in Stockton, the weather is awesome and I'm fortunate to have a great coaching staff that expects a lot from me. It was nice to play well and come on strong toward the end of last season. It helps in my goal to be a guy who the team can count on and puts up points, night in and night out."

Fulton was selected by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round (179th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
