
Thunder Rally Clips Wings

HARLINGEN, Texas- The Texas Thunder used a three run eighth inning to rally past the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings 5-3 Monday night at Harlingen Field.
Thunders starting pitcher Steven Romero (3-4) pitched a complete game scattering just six hits on three runs and striking out seven.
In the bottom of the second inning Michael Garcia led off the inning with a double down the right field line, Garcia later scored on a passed ball from starting catcher Wes Moody giving the Wings an early 1-0 lead.
The Wings would add on two more runs in the frame after RBI singles from Albert Carpen and Fidel Hernandez making it 3-0 Wings.
In the top of the third inning Jorge Bishop reached first on the errant throw from Troy Zawadzki, Cody Bishop would score Bishop from second on an RBI double trimming the lead to 3-1.
In the top of the fifth inning Wes Moody would lead off the inning with a base hit, with one out in the inning Bishop would hit an RBI double off the left center field wall scoring Moody from second making it 3-2.
Bishop would continue his hot night at the plate hitting his second double of the game and later scoring on an error from Wings third basemen Keigo Miyagi tying the game at 3-3 even.
The Texas Thunder rallied in the top of the eighth inning scoring three runs and taking a 5-3 lead. Starting pitcher Bobby O'Neill (2-3) was charged with the loss tossing seven innings on five runs; four of them earned.
Relief pitcher Tyler Herr came out of the bullpen in relief of O'Neill, striking out five in just two innings of work.
The Wings lead the four game series three games to one as they look to win the series for the second time this season versus the Texas Thunder. The Wings drop to 5-2 on the year against the Thunder.
The series finale is set for Tuesday as the WhiteWings send Brett Kennedy to the mound Kennedy leads the United League with an E.RA. of 2.48 on the year. First pitch is 7:05
