DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Daytona Beach Thunder placed three players on the American Indoor Football League's Southern Conference ProStars first team, it was announced today.

Offensive lineman Tommy Moody, defensive back Nick Allison and wide receiver/kick returner Robert Bailey garnered first-team nominations. Bailey's berth on the first team came for his special teams ability; he was also named a second-team wide receiver.

Also on the second team were defensive lineman Dereck Rivers and linebacker Joe Giddens.

"This shows that we had the talent capable of winning and that our players were well respected throughout the league,'' said Thunder owner/CEO Zack McDonald. "I'm proud of my players for earning these awards and the effort they gave on the field this season."

Bailey and Rivers narrowly missed out on first-team nods, each finishing in a tie for third at their respective position in the ballot among 21 coaches and owners and then falling short in tiebreaker votes cast by the coaches.

The regular season conference champion Rome Renegades played six players on the first team, followed the Richmond Bandits and Raleigh Rebels with four each. The Chattahoochee Valley Vipers had one.

Moody, a former Pierson Taylor and University of Florida standout who had a brief NFL stint, anchored the Thunder's offensive line in its inaugural season. Allison had 13 interceptions in 13 games while Bailey finished second in the league in all purpose yards with 140.2 per game.

After a 6-8 inaugural season, the Thunder is preparing for its second season that will begin February 11, 2007 in the Ocean Center.
