Ghostriders Get The Road Win 40-19 Over Thunder

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Rob Harding threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another as the Osceola Ghostriders registered their first World Indoor Football League road victory of the season with a 40-19 decision over the Daytona Beach Thunder before 1,763 at DBCC Public Broadcasting 15 Field at the Ocean Center Sunday afternoon.

Five different Ghostriders scored as Osceola (4-3) defeated the Thunder (1-6) for the third time this season.

Daytona Beach jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead on two touchdowns from Bo Bartik to Cory McKinney, but Osceola got a momentum-changing play when Charles Jones stripped McKinney of the ball when the Thunder receiver was going in for his third touchdown of the period.

Osceola scored the next 23 points.

The Thunder closed to 23-19 on Bartik's 9-yarder to former arena league great Barry Wagner with 10:45 remaining in the third quarter, but couldn't score again.

Harding finished 17 of 29 and was not intercepted or sacked. Lamont Finnie caught 10 passes for 118 yards and one score while newcomer Gerald Gales added three catches for 71 yards and a touchdown. Paul Sharpe and Terrance Bunting each rushed for a score.

Bartik finished with 149 yards passing, McKinney with six catches for 122 yards after registering 82 yards in the first quarter. Wagner and Kwasie each had two catches for 20 and 19 yards, respectively.

Harding was named offensive MVP while Jones, who also had an interception, garnered the defensive MVP nod. Sam Smalls and Bunting were named line and special teams MVP, respectively.

Osceola hosts first-place Columbus (5-2) next Sunday while Daytona Beach hosts Augusta (4-3) Saturday.
