WICHITA, Kan. - Aaron Davis and Matt Robinson provided a goal and an assist apiece as the host Wichita Thunder edged the Quad City Mallards 2-1 Friday night. With the loss, the Mallards dropped to 27-21-1 (55 points) on the season.

Davis collected a feed from Robinson and walked into the Mallard goalmouth to score the first goal of the evening at 14:17 of the first period.

After a scoreless second period, Wichita was on the power play when Robinson doubled the Thunder lead by firing the puck home from the right wing circle at 3:33 of the third period.

It was during a Quad City power play that Matt Duffy got the Mallards on the scoreboard and cut the Wichita lead to 2-1 with a drive from the right wing circle at 13:43 of the third. Duffy put the puck behind Thunder goaltender Adam Russo, who replaced starting netminder Bryan Hogan- who stopped all 28 shots he faced- when Hogan exited the game due to injury midway through the third period.

The Mallards would press for an equalizer after emptying the net in the final minute, but Quad City's comeback bid fell just short.

The Mallards return to action on home ice tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. against the Arizona Sundogs. Tomorrow evening is Military Appreciation Night. The first 1,000 fans through the doors for tomorrow night's game will receive free Mallards camouflage koozies courtesy of the Rock Island Arsenal chapter of the Association of the United States Army . In addition, the Mallards' " Seats for Soldiers" drive has enabled fans and area businesses to purchase discounted tickets to tomorrow night's game that the Mallards donated to area military personnel and their families.
