
Bucks' Comeback Falls Short

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, were defeated by the Rapid City Rush 4-3.
The Laredo Bucks and the Rapid City Rush met for the third time this season Friday night in Rapid City, South Dakota. The last time these two teams met was in December, where the teams split a pair of games in Laredo.
The Rapid City Rush jumped on the board at 2:05 with a goal from Konrad Reeder. Ryan Rondeau made a tremendous save to keep it a one goal game halfway through the first. The Bucks successfully killed off the tripping penalty that was called on Matt Boyd at 10:33. Then at 14:11, the Bucks went on the man advantage when the Rush were called for a too many men on the ice penalty but couldn't convert. With only 33 seconds left in the first period, Jeff Kyrzakos was able to give the Rush a 2-0 lead. The Bucks were outshot 12-5 in the first period of play.
Scott Wray found the net for Rapid City only 11 seconds into the second period, giving them a 3-0 lead. Erik Boisvert scored 27 seconds later, when he put the puck past the Rapid City netminder. Neil Trimm and Matt Boyd assisted on the goal that made the score 3-1. A penalty shot was awarded to Rapid City early in the frame, but Ryan Rondeau denied the shooter. Konrad Reeder scored his second goal of the night, this time on a powerplay at 8:27, expanding the Rush lead to 4-1. The Bucks battled back and scored a powerplay goal at 13:58. Rusty Masters lit the lamp with assists from Adam Rivet and Trevor Hunt. Less than two minutes later at 15:19, Erik Boisvert made it a one goal game by scoring his second goal of the night. The unassisted goal cut the Rush lead to 4-3. The Bucks ended the period by succcesfully killing off a Rush powerplay. The Bucks outshot the Rush 13-11 in the period.
The Laredo Bucks came out energized in the third period of play, but could not cross the goal line. Ryan Rondeau made several key saves to keep the Bucks within one goal during the period. The Bucks pulled Rondeau with 45 seconds left in regulation, but were unable to tie the game. Both teams each had 8 shots on goal during the final period of play.
