San Angelo, Texas --- The McAllen Thunder scored three runs in the top of the 11th to beat the San Angelo Colts, 5-4, Wednesday night at Foster Field.

Thunder right fielder Tim Battle scored the go-ahead run on an RBI double by catcher Mario Perez. Battle drew a leadoff walk, stole second base, and advanced to third on a ground out.

Perez then scored on an RBI triple by designated hitter Vince Coleman, Jr. An RBI double by third baseman Andy White brought home Coleman, Jr. to make it 5-2 Thunder.

McAllen led 2-0 entering the eighth, but catcher Chris Caves tied the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning. It was his second home run of the season, and it scored left fielder Braden Embry.

The Colts nearly tied the game again in the 11th. Second baseman Jon Dziomba scored on a wild pitch and designated hitter Kyle Nichols came home on an RBI double by first baseman Steve Rinaudo. Thunder closer Alex Fernandez settled down, however, and retired the Colts without any further damage for his sixth save.

McAllen reliever Ernesto Verrier (1-2) earned the win, pitching two scoreless innings. Colts' reliever Cephas Howard (2-2) gave up all three runs in the 11th, and took the loss.

The win improves McAllen to 9-10, while the loss drops San Angelo to 9-10. This four-game series concludes Thursday at 7:05 p.m. It will be a $1 Beer Night, sponsored by Miller Lite. Draught beers will be just $1, and bottled beers $2, courtesy of Miller Lite.
